Student Testimonial: From the Classroom to the Cockpit

I was first introduced to LCDR Diallo Wallace during the Powered Flight Program at the United States Naval Academy in the Summer of 2023. Following this training, I was a student in one of his aerodynamic classes at the Academy for aspiring Naval Aviators.

It was here where I learned from "D Man," that aviation is bigger than simply the aero we were learning about. Yes, he taught the required information, but more importantly were the lessons in teamwork, reliance and dependence on each other. These were the takeaways that were critical heading into flight school, and the ones that have truly helped me get through it.

D Man's emphasis on mentorship was also critical. I am currently in the TH-73 Thrasher syllabus at NAS Whiting Field and keep up frequent communication with D Man. Though I am far removed from his classroom, the care he showed to each of his students lasts to this day. He continues to guide and encourage, something everyone needs. He has helped get me to where I am today, and I am thankful for his leadership and continued support.
